-WINE JUDGING Date: Saturday, August 14th at 1:00 pm

WINE SPECIFICATIONS

1. Wines may be made from any fruit, vegetable, grain or juice commonly used in making wine, and kit.

2. Each entry must be bottled in a clean container with at least 750 milliliter capacity with either a cork or screw cap stopper. Decanters will not be accepted.

3. Each bottle must be labeled. The label should contain a description of the wine and the name and address of the winemaker. Wines entered in the subcategory "other" must designate the principle ingredient on the label.

4. Dry wine is a wine that tastes dry to the palate and contains 1% or less sugar. A specific gravity reading of 0 (zero) or less is a rough guide of a dry wine.

RULES AND PROCEDURES FOR ENTERING

1. A contestant may enter one or more wines in all 13 lots.

2. Contestants must be 21 years or older as of the date of the fair.

3. All wines must be homemade by an amateur.

4. Supervisors reserve the right to combine a lot having less than three entries with another lot.

5. Judges may not judge a lot in which they have entered.

CLASS WINE - Adults 21 years of age and older

Class A

Judging Criteria

• Color, depth, tint, appropriate to classification
• Total acid to the taste
• Clarity, brilliance, luster
• Balance of sugar, alcohol, acid
• General flavor, taste, aftertaste
• Body and finish, appropriate to type

• Use standard 12 oz beer bottle.
• Place a label on each with as much info possible regarding the ingredients, plus specify the class

• Total acid to the taste
• Clarity, brilliance, luster
